I born and raised on Long Island, about an hour train ride from Manhattan — it’s far enough away where things aren’t open all night, but still close enough where everything is stupidly expensive. All my stuff is here, though, and I definitely don’t want to pack things, so it’s home.
I was once on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” and got to hug Terry Crews twice, which is one of the finest achievements of my life.
Before you ask, I won $61,600, and the check for the taxes on that remains the single largest check I’ve ever written in my life.
I used to work as a freelance IT/web development consultant, but slowly discovered I wasn’t a huge fan of consulting in general (or IT in particular). I now work for Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, as a Happiness Engineer, which basically combines every last thing I’ve enjoyed in my working life into one nifty package. It’s awesome, and we’re hiring!
Naturally, the legal jibba-jabba that the thoughts and opinions expressed on this site in no way represent the views of my employer apply to whatever I say.
Heck, they might not represent my views anymore, either, depending on when you read ’em! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
